To Honor Mrs. Lockwood

Capital Women Will Present Portrait to Aged Female Lawyer

At a meeting of prominent women yesterday afternoon at Eagle Lodge, the home of Mrs. John A. Logan, it was decided to present to Mrs. Belva A. Lockwood, who passed her eighty-first birthday anniversary last October, a portrait of herself, as a token of her services to the women of this city.

About 40 were present at the meeting, and the funds for painting of the portrait were subscribed.

Mrs. Lockwood was the first woman admitted to practice before the Supreme Court, and she has been identified with many public movements. Those who received the guests yesterday included Mrs. Logan, Mrs. A. L. Barber, Mrs. Grandfield, Mrs. Sarah D. LaFetra, Mrs. E. D. Crumpacker, Miss Elizabeth Pierce, and Miss Edith Mosher.

Note: Mrs. Logan's home, Eagle Lodge, was at 2523 13th Street Northwest, Washington, DC, now the Libretto apartments.
