To Honor Mrs. Lockwood

Washingtonians Order Portrait to Be Hung in Public Building.

A public meeting was held last night at the Willard Hotel to urge the creation of a fund to buy a portrait of Mrs. Belva Ann Lockwood, to be placed in the Corcoran Art Gallery, or some other national institution, as a testimonial to the interest she has taken in the members of her sex. Mrs. Nellie Nathes Horne of Boston, was awarded the order to paint a picture of Mrs. Lockwood.

Addresses praising Mrs. Lockwood were delivered by Mrs. Lillian M. N. Stevens, Miss Anna A. Gordon, Miss Margaret Dye Ellis, Mrs. Clara B. Colby, Mrs. Julia A. Leavitt, Dr. A. J. Arbeely, Mrs. Lillian Pike Roome, Mrs. Joseph Arnold Rich, Mrs. John O. Esterbrooke, and Miss Minnie F. Mickley.
