These three notices —First, Second and Last— in the Alexandria Advertiser and Commercial Intelligencer cover the bankruptcy of Elisha Cullen Dick, in January of 1801.


Alexandria Advertiser and Commercial Intelligencer, January 10, 1801.

FIRST NOTICE,

Whereas a Commiſſion of Bankruptcy is awarded and iſſued forth againſt Eliſha Cullen Dick of the town of Alexandria, and he being declared bankrupt is hereby required to ſurrender himſelſ to the commiſſioners in the ſaid commiſſion named, or the major part of on the ſeventeenth day of this month, at twelve o'clock in the forenoon, at the Washington tavern, in Alexandria, and make a full diſcovery and diſcloſure of his eſtate and effects; when and where the creditors of the ſaid Eliſha Cullen Dick, either in his ſeparate capacity or as one of the late houſe of James Meaſe M'Rea and Company, may attend, prepared to prove their debt — At the ſecond ſitting of the Commiſſioners, the ſaid bankrupt is go through his ſecond examination; and at the laſt ſitting the ſaid bankrupt is required to finiſh his examination, and the creditors aforsaid to chooſe aſignees, of which ſubfequent ſitting due notice will be given and the creditors are to aſſent or diſſent from, the allowance of his certificate, All perfons indebted to the ſaid bankrupt, who have any his are not to pay or deliver the ſame but to whom the commiſſioners ſhall appoint, but to give notice to

SECOND NOTICE,

Whereas a Commiſſion of Bankruptcy is awarded and iſſued forth against Eliſha Cullen Dick, of the Town of Alexandria, and he having ſurrendered himſelf to the major part of the Commiſſioners named in the ſaid Commiſſion, at the Waſhington Tavern, in Alexandria, on the ſeventeenth day of this month, when and where he underwent his firſt examination — he is therefore required again to attend, at the ſaid Tavern, on Saturday the 31st day of this month, to undergo his ſecond examination, when and where the Creditors of the ſaid Eliſha Cullen Dick, either in his ſeparate capacity, or as one of the Firm of James Meaſe M'Rea and Company, may attend to prove their debts. At the laſt ſitting of the Commiſſioners the ſaid Bankrupt is to finiſh his examination, and the Creditors aforeſ are to chooſe Aſſignees; of which laſt ſitting due notice will be given, and the Creditors are to aſſent to, or diſſent from, the allowance of his Certificate, All perſons indebted to the ſaid Bankrupt, or who have any of his effects are not to pay or deliver the ſame, but to whom the Commiſſioners ſhall appoint, but to give notice to

LAST NOTICE,

Whereas a Commiffion of Bankruptcy is awarded and iſſued forth againſt Eliſha Cullen Dick, of the town of Alexandria, and he having ſurrendered himſelf to the major part of the commiſſioners named in the ſaid commiffion, at the Waſhington tavern in Alexandria, on the 31st day of January laſt, when and where he underwent his ſecond examination; he is therefore required again to attend at the ſaid tavern, on Friday the 19th day of this preſent month, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon, to undergo his final examination, when and where the creditors of the ſaid Eliſha Cullen Dick, either in his ſeparate capacity or as one of the firm of James Meaſe M'Rea and Company, may attend to prove their debts — at which time and place the Creditors aforefaid are to aſſent to or diſent from the allowance of his certificate—and to chooſse aſignees.
 All perfons indebted to the faid bankrupt, or who may any of his effects, are not to pay or deliver the fame but to whom the Commiffioners may appoint, but to give notice to
