Tribute to Edwin B. Hay
Monument Erected in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Almas Temple, Order of the Mystic Shrine of this city, has completed and unveiled in Rock Creek cemetery an appropriate memorial to Edwin Barrett Hay, late a prominent and most distinguished member of the nobles of the Mystic Shrine.
The monument is oblong in design and of beautiful finish. It is of the Egyptian order of architecture and made of dark Quincy (Mass.) granite, and is the work of Noble Harry E. Rupprecht of Almas Temple. The first base of the monument is 5x3 feet; the second base, 4 feet 4 inches by 2 feet 4 inches square. The die, 3 feet 0 Inches at base by 1 foot 6 inches at top.
It is highly polished on the four sides, carved on the front, and has the Shriners' emblem cut on the front and back. On the front of the die is the inscription, “Edwin Barrett Hay,” and date of his birth and death in sunken letters. On the first base, front, is inscribed in similar letters, “A Friend of All Mankind.” On the second base, in raised block letters, is the name, “Hay.” On the top of the die is placed a plinth eight inches high. The pedestal is surmounted by a life-size bronze bust of Noble Hay, modeled by Mrs. Vinnie Ream Hoxie, the sculptress. The full height of the memorial is eight feet.
