A Young Lawyer Shot Dead at Williamsport.
Hagerstown, MD., June 6.— Clinton Rench, a young lawyer from Baltimore, and nephew of William Price Esq., was shot dead in Williamsport yesterday. He was ordered to leave the town on account of his strong sympathy with the South, and when about leaving he gave expression to some language to the crowd which was deemed offensive by them, where-upon the men set to stoning him. Mr. Rench turned his horse toward the crowd, when a man leaped forward, and seizing the bridle, refused to let him go. Mr. Rench then drew his revolver and fired twice without effect at the man holding his horse, whereupon the crowd fired upon Mr. Rench and shot him dead from his horse. Mr. Rench was a son of one of our most respectable and wealthy citizens, and for several years has practiced law in Baltimore. The intelligence of his death created much excitement in this place.
