Betty Taylor Bliss
Hostess in her mother's stead, Betty Taylor Bliss probably posed for this daguerreotype about a decade after her White House days. Of Mrs. Taylor, a semi-invalid for years, no authentic likeness survives; contemporaries described her as slender and stately, a brunette in youth.
Daguerroeotype by J. E. McClees, Smithsonian Institution.
