1879, Jan. 22. Detached from the Michigan and ordered to the Powhatan.

1879, Dec. 6. Detached from the Powhatan and ordered to the Tennessee.

1881, Dec. 10. Detached from the Tennessee and placed on waiting orders.

1882, Feb. 2. Ordered to special duty in connection with search for survivors of the Arctic expedition Steamer Jeannette.

1883, March 3. Title changed to Lieutenant (junior grade) by law.

1884, Feb. 26. Detached from the special duty, survivors of the Jeannette, and placed on waiting orders.

1884, July 8.  To the Despatch as executive officer.

1885, April 10. Detached from the Despatch and ordered to special duty at the Navy Department.

1885, April 14. Report to the Secretary of State for special duty in connection with selecting and conveying to Siberia the articles to be sent to the benefactors of the survivors of the Jeannette expedition.

1885, Oct. 2.  Promoted to Lieutenant.

1886, Nov. 9.  Detached from special duty in the State Department in connection with selecting and conveying to Siberia articles to be sent to benefactors of survivors of Jeannette expedition.

1886, Dec. 20. Ordered to duty in the Bureau of Navigation.

1889, Oct. 9.  Detached from duty in the Bureau of Navigation and ordered to the Chicago.

1892, Nov. 16. Detached from the Chicago and ordered to the Navy Department as Inspector of Naval Militia, from which duty he was transferred to the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Hon. William McAdoo.

1897, March 31. Detached and ordered to the Marblehead as Navigator.

1898, March 29. Detached from the Marblehead and ordered to the Iowa as Navigator.

1899, March 3.  Promoted to Lieutenant-Commander.

1899, April 14.  Ordered to the Philadelphia as Executive officer.

1901, March 13. Detached from the Philadelphia and ordered home on waiting orders.

1901, May 8.  Ordered to the Navy Department as Superintendent of Compasses.

1902, April 4.  Died at Naval Hospital, Washington, D.C., at 2:10 A. M., while on duty as Superintendent of Compasses.
