The Johnson Coat of Arms

“Confide et Certa,”
“Trust and Strive,”
The Johnson Coat of Arms

In the United States the members of the Johnson family have used the words, “Confide et Certa,” or “Trust and Strive,” in connection with the coat of arms; but General Bradley T. Johnson, on his return from England, declared that, while the arms as used in America by the descendants of Captain Thomas Johnson otherwise correspond with the description emblazoned in the Heralds' College, there is no record of any motto on the Johnson escutcheon.
